Jakob Helding Rasmussen

Jakob combines a PhD in Biology with 20 years of experience from working in the biopharmaceutical industry, to transform promising ideas into viable biotech companies.

 

Jakob is recognized for his passion and understanding of great science and technology and appreciates the opportunity to challenge project ideas from a constructive angle. Having seen hundreds of research ideas and projects, Jakob can identify project potential and pitfalls. Years of people management has further given him the ability to constructively give feedback while motivating the scientists to define the best possible development path through uncharted territory.

 

He started his career as a research scientist in M&E Biotech focusing on development of autovaccines followed by four years at Maxygen where he was responsible for Cell line and Upstream development.

 

Before joining Marigold Innovation, Jakob worked 12 years at Novo Nordisk where he held several managerial positions within Research and Development, the last 6 years as Corporate Vice President. First as Head of Biotechnology with VP areas in both Denmark and China, providing technical solutions to the entire Biopharm portfolio. Later he became responsible for development and production of API to all clinical programs. 

 

Jakob has in-depth interest in development of gene- and cell-based therapies under GMP and a solid track record within research and development of recombinant protein-based biologics with subject matter expertise in the field of cell line and upstream process development. This is combined with broad insight into the overall requirements for development of recombinant protein/peptide-based biologics ranging from idea to late-stage clinical testing.
